The new "NSRAFA Shropshire Branch".
Despite Ice and snow and the bitter cold, twelve intrepid individuals,
with apologies from 23 others, found their way to the Swan Hotel at
Wellington in Shropshire on Monday January 21st to investigate the
possibility of forming yet another branch of the National Service (Royal
Air Force ) Association
Former NSRAFA committee member Percy Woodhouse from Stirchley in Telford
had arranged the meeting in response to repeated requests from Association
members and said he was delighted that so many managed to turn up and he felt
their commitment augured well for the future.
Meetings are to be held at the Swan Hotel. 106 Watling Street, Wellington, Shrops. TF1 2NH on the third Monday in each month at 12 noon with the December meeting being a Christmas Party.
Feb 18th / March 18th / April 15th / May 20th / June 17th / July 15th / August 19th / September 16th / October 21st / November 18th and the Xmas Party on December 16th.

The new "NS(RAF)A Wirral Group".
The Inaugural Meeting took place of the proposed Wirral Group on Monday 28th January. I was informed that approximately 25 people would be tuning up at the Hooton Hotel and was more than delighted when 47 arrived .
Although I admit I was concerned in case we ran out of room! All went well and confirmed my belief that there had been a need for this new group.

Sutton Coldfield, North Midlads.
There was resounding support for the formation of a
Sutton Coldfield / North Birmingham Branch
, Wednesday being the preferred day with the venue for the next meetings being the
The Fox and Dogs PH
, left hand side of Mere Green Road having passed Sainsbury's, with a large car park and near a bus stop.
The meal on offer would be a Carvery - you select from Turkey, Beef & Pork, plus trimmings and vegetables, with a choice from six served puddings. The puddings could be replaced with a starter, but main plus pudding would make it simpler. The cost would be 6 under the banner of the Diamond Club, exclusively for those over 50. (normal cost would be nearer a tenner). This would only leave 5p towards stamps but if we can keep up the surplus from the raffle I see no problem and would leave a reasonable sum for wine at the Christmas occasion.
By agreement I have cancelled the outstanding provisional meetings at the Plough & Harrow. - I have provisionally booked meetings at the Fox & Dogs for the future - contact me for details.
Meet at the Fox & Dogs: 11-11.15 for coffee.
The venue will open at 11 am for us (normally 12 noon) so it is proposed up 11.30 to for socialising getting drinks if required from the bar, then talk 11.30 and then at about 12.15 commence obtaining food (Carvery - Turkey, Beef or Pork and very good selection of vegetables), staff will take & serve your pudding selection followed by coffee or tea.
Partners are welcome to attend as is the wearing of insignia etc.
If you know of other ex RAF personnel (NS, Regular, WAAF/WRAF, irrespective if they are current members of our association) who might be interested, please pass on the details of this meeting/luncheon and ask them to contact Ron direct.
As it will be essential to let the hostelry have knowledge of numbers/selections Ron asks that you to call him and leave details of your meal requirements and then please send cheque for £6 each made payable to Mr R Read and he will settle total food account.
